People who are sitting for long hours in their workplace have a high risk of suffering from back pain. You don't have to change your job to stop the pain and being uncomfortable.
The following tips can help relieve your back aches:
1. Use the Right Office Chair
An office chair is one of the reasons why you are suffering from back pain. There are office chairs with features that can prevent back pain. Choose this kind of chair, preferably the one that will help your lower back to rest.
When sitting, slightly tilt the back part of your chair, so you can properly.
2. Sit at a Good Distance
Sitting far from your computer or your table can cause back pain. The ideal distance from your body to your monitor should be the length of your arm. Also, position the monitor at about 3 inches above your eye level.
Another thing to consider is the position of your feet when sitting. They should be flat on the floor and slightly apart. Your ankles and knees should not be tense when you are sitting. Positioning your knees, feet, and ankles properly can help make your spine comfortable.
3. Refrain from Crossing Your Legs When Sitting
Your spine and shoulders will have a hard time if you sit cross-legged. This position causes your pelvis muscles to overstretch. Cross-legging also increases the risk to acquire varicose veins as it interrupts the circulation of blood.
4. Breathe from Your Stomach
Proper breathing helps in supporting your upper body and stimulates the core muscles. When inhaling, draw your belly in the direction of your spine.
5. Head and Chin Up
It is not recommended to strain your body forward when sitting at work. Keep your neck and head on alignment above your shoulders.
6. Take Breaks
Do not sit non-stop while working. Take a break once in a while and do some shoulder exercises. Stand up to go to the bathroom or take a coffee break. Taking a break can reduce the pressure on your spine.
Your job is important as it is your way of supporting your family. You can reach your dreams of you work hard for them. Don't let back and muscle pains stop you from being successful in life.
However, if you need to take a rest from work due to back pain, check your workers compensation regarding its coverage.
